Open Stinger and read a sentence out loud in the set-up assistant to calibrate your mic and pace, then paste your script and press Load and finish.
- Which scroll mode should I use in Stinger?
Pick Auto for a steady, polished read; Voice for natural pauses and breathing room; Track if you ad-lib, restart, or skip lines.
- How do I set microphone sensitivity in Stinger?
Go to Settings › Voice & Track, switch to Voice or Track mode, and talk at your recording level while watching the Level bar.
- How do I choose a different microphone or camera in Stinger?
Settings › Voice & Track lists every input on your Mac.
- How do I show Stinger in a demo or webinar?
Stinger is hidden from screen capture by design.
- Will people on my call see the Stinger prompter?
No.
- How do I control Stinger from a presentation clicker or keyboard shortcut?
Stinger responds to global hotkeys from any app: ⌘P play/pause, ⌘R restart, ⌘↑/⌘↓ speed, ⌘⇧M show/hide, ⌘⇧N snap to notch, ⌘⇧→/⌘⇧← next/previous section.
- How do I use sections in Stinger?
Mark a line with ## to make it a section heading.
- How do I move the prompter away from the notch?
Drag the panel or use Prompter › Float Prompter to detach it from the notch.
- What are take marks in Stinger?
Take marks are a cut list: every time you press play, Stinger logs pauses, resumes, re-reads, and restarts with timestamps so you (or your editor) find the stumble.
- How do I import a script into Stinger?
Use File › Import Script… (⌘I), or drag files directly onto the prompter panel or Scripts window.
- Can I control Stinger from my phone or iPad?
Yes.
- Can I change the text size and font in Stinger?
Yes.
- How do I activate my Stinger license?
Open Stinger, go to Stinger › License…, paste your key from your purchase email, and press Activate.
- What permissions does Stinger ask for?
Stinger asks for microphone, speech recognition, camera, and screen recording — only when you use the features that need them.
- How do I uninstall Stinger?
Quit Stinger, drag it from Applications to the Trash, and optionally delete ~/Library/Application Support/Stinger/ to remove your scripts and settings.
